Project Management for Trainers

This is day one of the two-day workshop.  It is based on our Fundamentals of Managing Projects workshop, with examples and discussion focused on training projects.  Where appropriate, we will emphasize technology-based training projects.

This workshop helps you define what a project is, look at the nine areas of knowledge needed to be a project manager as defined by the Project Management Institute, and then walks you through the six major steps in planning a project:

  • Project Charter
  • Work Breakdown Structure
  • Skill Requirements (Staffing)
  • Effort Estimating (Sizing)
  • Scheduling
  • Costing

You will work through a realistic case study exercise and review other sample materials. You will receive forms and aids for helping you plan your own projects.

You will learn to use the concept of the triple constraints to modify your plans to meet the restrictions you may face.
